Background
James founded The IOn Project in 2024 as a one-person operation under The Ritz Plaza LLC. The premise was simple: build the tools you wish existed, ship them in public, and refuse to compromise on privacy. No VCs, no team meetings, no third-party trackers, no ad networks. Every product ships with the same four guarantees โ elegant, efficient, private, crafted.
Today the project spans five live products across mobile, desktop, and web, with three more in active development. The work cuts across several domains โ sleep science, ASO, behavioral health, and application security โ because the underlying philosophy is the same in each: solve a specific problem well, charge a fair price (or nothing), and respect the user's data.
Areas of expertise
Roughly two years of dedicated, full-stack solo work across Android (Kotlin), web (vanilla HTML/CSS/JS, no framework bloat), Windows desktop (Electron), and AI-assisted code review tooling. Domain-specific expertise has accumulated alongside the products:

Writing
The IOn Project blog publishes long-form, evidence-based articles across three primary topic clusters: App Publishing & ASO (Google Play and Apple App Store optimization for indie developers), Sleep Guides (sleep audio science, sleep architecture, behavior change), and Nicotine Cessation (withdrawal timelines, craving interventions, vape and cigarette cessation). Posts are cited where possible, opinionated when warranted, and free of affiliate content.
